Recent Trip to High Point Furniture Market

I just returned from an energizing trip to the High Point Furniture Market!  Not only were the market finds exciting, but the people I met were a find in themselves!  I especially enjoyed meeting a 75 years old storefront owner who shared her strategies for shopping for her storefront throughout the years. I was amazed at her continued zest for life and keeping up with the ever-changing furniture industry.

Another person that was interesting to meet was the college roomate of Kathryn Stockett, author of  the recently released book, "The Help"! And her lovely friend and storefront owner of a unique antique relic store in Charlotte, NC.

Of course, the other highlights of the trip, besides meeting great people and being with a fellow designer friend, was experiencing all that Market has to offer! Take a look at some of our finds!

Loved the look of this barstool combination!

Great way to add architectual interest to a large wall!

Here is the perfect table for all you wine lovers!

I loved this piece as a possibility for one of my client's Dining Room!

The industrial look was strong at market with the metal legs and wood top.

I thought this would be a good stopping point, since the theme is Texas style! I truly love sourcing for my clients and would love to help you with your next project! There is something out there for every look and style!

Clever Way to Install New Carpet

Do only certain rooms in your home require new carpet?  Is your stairway showing wear, but you don't want to replace all of the carpet upstairs?

Recently we purchased new carpet for our Family Room and new carpet for the Entryway stairs.  The dilemma that we faced was where the carpet would end on the landing/top of the stairs.  "Should we replace the carpet on the entire landing, two bedrooms, and a Game room, which are in perfectly good shape?".

Since the carpet upstairs was in good condition, but the stairs had started to show some wear after 9-1/2 years, this was the perfect solution.  A wooden bullnose was installed on the top stair.

Aesthetically is was pleasing to the eye since we created a place for the new carpet to end upstairs.  The result was an updated stairway without the extra cost of recarpeting the entire upstairs!

Designer Carpet to Replace Builder's Grade Carpet

Tip:  Buy the best carpet pad when purchasing carpet.  This will help to prolong the life of your carpet, especially on the stairs!

Will It ever be Fall???

Will it ever be Fall???  I keep hearing these sentiments.  Believe it or not, the cooler weather will be here before we know it.

Have you started thinking about family and friends coming for the holidays?!  You may be ready for a change to your decor before they arrive.  Take a look at some budget-friendly ways to update your decor!

Reupholstering furniture gives a room an updated look, without having to purchase new furniture.  Coordinating pillows in coordinating colors and various textures, helps to pull the look together as well.

In the Formal Living Room,  take a look at the my client's, "before" photos of their furniture pieces and the fabrics choices that we are considering for reupholstering (pictured below).

Before selecting fabrics,  I chose Sherwin Williams, Totally Tan, to warm the walls! Previously they were the Builder's Off-White Color! It really warmed the space.

My clients, love the traditional lines of the sofa, but want a more relaxed look.
I love this accent chair, but the existing fabric does not showcase the beautiful wood details.

For the accent chair, one of the interesting black silk fabrics will be chosen.  They are a little on the pricey side, but we only need one yard of fabric!

Several sofa fabric options have been provided in a Paprika and Cinnamon color (which will work beautifully in the room with the black Baby Grand Piano). The sofa fabric (100% Polyester), is a little dressier feel than the average chenille, but not as formal in feel as a velvet.  To relax the feel even more, we could add nailhead trim at the bottom of the sofa and in the inside of the arms.  We have not decided on this yet.

I can't wait to show you the "After" photos! I know they are going to love the newly updated space! It will be much more relaxing and inviting to curl up on the soft and cozy sofa and listen to the piano tunes!

Whether it is a complete makeover or a small update, Peri Nicole Interiors can transform your space! Give us a call before the snow comes!! Can you imagine? We are only a phone call away at

Decorating Daughter's College Apartment

Despite the 104 degrees temperature over the weekend,  our daughter's moving day into her college apartment went smoothly.  Planning ahead is always a good thing, especially when moving 4 girls into a 4 bedroom apartment with one living space.  My daughter, Peri, and I had shopped ahead for items for her room, and I feel it really came together for a cozy home away from home! In spaces that are limited in design features, we added some achitectural interest, (notice wall hanging over her bed), a large mirror to give the illusion of added space, and pops of color for character (rug, bedding, desk chair, and wall art).  We added simple sheer (black) curtains and rod, to filter some of the glare from the window which faces a pool.  It really helped make the room cozy and tied in all the black in the room.   She loves her new apartment room and is ready to face the challenges of another year at college!

If your son's or daughter's room could use some updating, I would love to help you! Give Peri Nicole Interiors a call at 817-296-4274, or e-mail pnidesigns@msn.com.

The birds are singing, Spring is in the Air!

As I was helping a client on Friday with her Family Room, we enjoyed the fresh outdoor air coming in through her windows.  My client and I were talking about how we both love birds and hearing them sing.  It is easy to incorporate items of the outdoors into your decor.  We added a bird cage and bird figurines to her bookcase.  You can also incorporate a tray with a birds on it, a glass decanter with birds eggs, or a bird's nest with eggs.  This will add a fresh beginning to your Spring!
