Recent Trip to High Point Furniture Market

I just returned from an energizing trip to the High Point Furniture Market!  Not only were the market finds exciting, but the people I met were a find in themselves!  I especially enjoyed meeting a 75 years old storefront owner who shared her strategies for shopping for her storefront throughout the years. I was amazed at her continued zest for life and keeping up with the ever-changing furniture industry.

Another person that was interesting to meet was the college roomate of Kathryn Stockett, author of  the recently released book, "The Help"! And her lovely friend and storefront owner of a unique antique relic store in Charlotte, NC.

Of course, the other highlights of the trip, besides meeting great people and being with a fellow designer friend, was experiencing all that Market has to offer! Take a look at some of our finds!

Loved the look of this barstool combination!

Great way to add architectual interest to a large wall!

I loved this piece as a possibility for one of my client's Dining Room!

The industrial look was strong at market with the metal legs and wood top.

I thought this would be a good stopping point, since the theme is Texas style! I truly love sourcing for my clients and would love to help you with your next project! There is something out there for every look and style!

Clever Way to Install New Carpet

Do only certain rooms in your home require new carpet?  Is your stairway showing wear, but you don't want to replace all of the carpet upstairs?

Recently we purchased new carpet for our Family Room and new carpet for the Entryway stairs.  The dilemma that we faced was where the carpet would end on the landing/top of the stairs.  "Should we replace the carpet on the entire landing, two bedrooms, and a Game room, which are in perfectly good shape?".

Since the carpet upstairs was in good condition, but the stairs had started to show some wear after 9-1/2 years, this was the perfect solution.  A wooden bullnose was installed on the top stair.

Aesthetically is was pleasing to the eye since we created a place for the new carpet to end upstairs.  The result was an updated stairway without the extra cost of recarpeting the entire upstairs!

Tip:  Buy the best carpet pad when purchasing carpet.  This will help to prolong the life of your carpet, especially on the stairs!
